Yeddyruppa has the last laugh!!

The governor of Karnataka, H R Bhardwaj,on Thursday  sworn-in Sadananda Gowda as Karnataka’s Chief Minister  on Thurday at the Raj Bhavan.

The 26th Chief Minister of Karnataka is the second BJP leader after Yeddyurappa to lead the Karnataka Government following Yeddyuruppa’s indictment in the Lokayukta Movement for his involvement in the illegal mining carried out in his state.

Gowda’s appointment is a big blow to his rival, Jagadish Shetty who harbored similar ambitions until the recent vote out casted him out in favour of Gowda. The vote out was held, following the BJP’s failure to arrive at a consensus on choosing the right candidate for the job.

Although the exact number of vote-outs was not disclosed, it is said that voting turned out to be a close encounter. It assumably explains why neither Shetty nor his supporters turned out for the swearing ceremony.

Gowda, a legislature party leader has been a staunch supporter of the former minister even while the minister was involved in various allegations of scams hence his nomination for the Chief Minister’s comes as a no major surprise.

Throughout his 30-year-old career in politics, the 58-year-old minister has been successful in keeping his image clean with not a single charge being framed on his name.

Gowda, a Science Graduate from St.Philomena University, Puttur obtained a degree in law from Udupi Vaikunta Baliga Law College where he served as the General Secretary of ABVP.From being the Vice President of SCDCC Bank to a member of the State PLD Bank Staff Selection Committee, he has been an active member in the various Co-operative activites.

As for BJP, he had been handling all the party matters of Goa til he was selected as the party’s President of Karnataka on two ocassions.

For Yeddyuruppa, though it is a sign of good things to come as he may use Sadananda as a puppet for his future political ambitions.
Gowda’s appointment for the remaining tenure of 22 months as the Chief Minister also ensures a safe passage for him from the mining case.
But again, with rumours of Jagadish Shetty getting the Deputy Minister’s berth doing the rounds, the political hassles for Karnataka continue to aggravate furthur.
