Hum Saath Saath Hain!PM,HM and RAJA...
In the latest developments to the 2G scam, Raja, the beleaguered ex-Telecom Minister named the Prime Minister and P.Chidambaram as his ‘accomplice’ in what transpired during the entire spectrum allocation.
A.Raja claimed before the court on Monday that the PM and the Home Minister were kept in loop about the sale of equity shares and there was nothing illegal about it. A.Raja was referring to the deal that was in place with the Telenor buying a stake in Unitech Wireless and Etisalat buying a stake in DB Realty.
A.Raja’s shocking revelations have thrown the Congress Government into the state of fiery. There has been enough mud thrown in the 2G scam with regard to the inefficiencies in handling the self-created mess.
The cropping of names of the Congress’s most ‘coveted ministers’ into one of the ugliest scams has put the Congress on the backseat. The NDA Government greedily gormandised the situation by demanding the resignation of the supposedly ‘scam-tainted’ ministers.
The PM, who had been effectively evading the CG blame amongst the other blames now soon, finds himself in a soup with another ‘G’blame. The ‘soft-spoken’ gentleman is yet to open his cards for the accusations thrown at him. P.Chidambaram, too has not been spared either.
Accusations ranging from the failure to tackle the Maoist problem to the lack of Intelligence on the Bombay blast had already put him in the hot seat. Amidst, the recent spate of allegations, the Home Minister seems like a sitting duck for the opposition.
Also, it is surprising to see that the normally out-spoken Congress Minister, Mr.Digvijay Singh has so far remained tight lipped about the whole issue, perhaps secretly harboring his PM ambitions. The claim has also put the Congress think-tank into a scurry of meetings to decide on the next form of action. These allegations have also put the ties between the Congress and the DMK Government into the gauntlet. While the DMK may rejoice with the fact that they can no more be disregarded with fewer seats as the only one to be framed, it needs to be carefully assessed whether the recent comments hold truth or not.
Each accusation of conspiracies and inefficiencies has only increased the dissent amongst the people towards the Prime Minister. If he does not take the immediate remedial steps, it won’t be long before he is given the ‘boot’ and I refer to both.
